Workshop ‘On the case law of the ECHR on disciplinary matters of magistrates’

12 October 2020 |

“On 8 October 2020, EURALIUS and the High Prosecutorial Council organized a Workshop “On the case law of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) on disciplinary matters of magistrates’.
Representatives of the High Judicial Council and the Office of the High Justice Inspector were present as well. The event was attended by 34 participants.
The ECtHR has established standards and principles regarding the disciplinary liability of magistrates in its rich case law which will guide the justice governance institutions in its procedures and decision making. The case law of the ECtHR is therefore of high relevance for the investigation conducted by the High Justice Inspector and disciplinary proceedings before the Councils.
This first joint event of three independent justice institutions aimed at contributing to ensure a uniform interpretation of the law in practice and is an expression of the willingness of these institutions to cooperate and coordinate."
