EURALIUS in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice and the Free Legal Aid Directorate have elaborated a Legal Aid Manual, which aims at supporting practitioners in the application of the legislative framework governing legal aid.
The Manual outlines all the procedural steps required to be undertaken in court proceedings in relation to legal aid. In addition, the manual addresses common questions of application as well as questions relating to the appointment of advocates once secondary legal aid was granted.
Furthermore, reference is made to relevant provisions of the respective procedural codes throughout the entire manual including the relation between the law on legal aid and the relevant provisions of the respective procedural code. It also contains the text of the Legal Aid Law as well as all legal acts adopted for its implementation.
The Manual has been presented in training sessions to judges and other stakeholders. In addition, the Manual has been distributed to all judges and prosecutors, as well as other beneficiaries, such as High Justice Council, High Prosecutorial Council, High Justice Inspector, School of Magistrate, Chamber of Advocates, among others.
