On 18 June 2020, EURALIUS V organized a webinar for judges interested in applying to the SPAK Court of First Instance.
The online event was opened by the Chairperson of the High Judicial Counci,l Ms Naureda Llagami. The Chairperson of the SPAK Court of First Instance Mr Sander Simoni and Ms Koraljka Bumci, Judge at USKOK Court in Zagreb, were the main speakers. Ms Bumci shared her experience as an USKOK judge, in particular with the challenges involved when dealing with high corruption profile cases and with the monitoring scheme to which also USKOK judges, like SPAK judges, are subject. She encouraged her Albanian colleagues to apply: ‘You will feel your work matters. You will feel that the Law is not made just for the purpose that ordinary people are punished for their wrongdoings but also for those who are abusing the power given by the law, or by the status they have, such as politicians, doctors, professors or even judges and prosecutors. You will feel like a judge and that feeling is good. You will be glad when you realize that your parents, cousins or neighbours acknowledge you as a judge whose work matters for ordinary people’, she said.
The judges from the general and administrative jurisdiction who participated demonstrated genuine interest in the work of the SPAK Court and appreciated the possibility to share experiences with colleagues. The application deadline ends on 22 June 2020.
